Welcome to Studio 291 (so nice to meet you)

We look forward to partnering with you on your home!

Once you begin working with us, you can count on completely personal attention. (Don't be surprised if eventually you find yourself sitting at our dinner table, discussing your home's plans over drinks and some good Southern cooking!) We're as comfortable as your favorite shoes and soothingly transparent; you can depend on receiving honest answers from us.

Here's a bit more about our principals:

Meet Joel Adrian.

For your residential design and home building needs, you'll work closely with Joel, founder of both Studio 291 and Island Family Builders.

Joel graduated from Clemson University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in architectural design. Early in his career, he focused on the design of welcoming, well-planned spaces for people engaged in eating out, shopping, learning, and attending services on behalf of clients in the restaurant, retail, education, and religious fields.

Translating his talents and experience to the residential marketplace, Joel began creating useful, personal spaces and welcoming atmospheres in the homes of his clients. He founded Studio 291 in 2002, and in addition to his work on behalf of firm clients, went on to develop the architectural guidelines of the Water's Edge community as its architectural review administrator, serve on the City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals, and served as chairman for the Wild Dunes Property Owner's Association Architectural Review Board... experience that enhanced his ability to move projects through the design process while working with various community architectural review boards.

Joel also holds a South Carolina Residential Builder's License, and in addition to working closely with some of the best custom home builders in the Lowcountry, offers a design/build package for clients who prefer a single expert to handle their home design and building process from start to finish.

Introducing Allison Adrian.

For your interior design needs, you'll work closely with Allison Adrian, Studio 291's resident interior design and space planning expert.

Allison graduated from Florida State University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in interior design. Experienced in site selection, space planning, programming, and finish selection, she has also regularly handled the preparation of construction documents, project management, and facility management. She works hand in hand with Joel to ensure Studio 291 homes perfectly fit their owners.

She is a member of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification and is a licensed interior designer (State of Illinois). She was selected to participate in Leadership Charleston in 2003 and has been a member of both the American Society of Interior Designers and the International Facility Management Association.

Maintaining a related interest in how homes can enrich the lives of individuals and families, Allison also holds a South Carolina Real Estate License and is a member of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.
